5/15/17 "Ye Bompaye (Ye are Praying)

Alrighty, time for another weekly wrap up from Ghana!

We had a great District Council this week, everyone seemed to be awake, and all were participating which makes life so much easier! :)

I went on exchanges with Elder George from Sierra Lione on Wednesday, and wow, he is a powerful missionary. Love the heck out of that guy. He is pretty quiet, but he is such a great teacher. He is just a few weeks into his mission, and he has a bright future ahead of him. He has done a lot of missionary work in the past, and it is all working out great for him so far!  We finished our exchanges by having fufu with Palm Nut Soup. Wow it was delicious!! :)  He was really surprised he finished it all because the last experience he had with fufu was not that great.  God bless the Ahenkorah family! :)

We taught a lot of our members this week too. The Area finance secretary came to Obuasi and we happened to run into him. He said that we should focus a lot more on our members and help the less-active members come to church again. So we have been applying that seriously, and so far it is rough! But, that is what I signed up for, and we are hoping for some great experiences this week.  :)

Friday was our Zone Conference. That was a long day. We were up at 5am, out the door by 5:45 and heading to Kumasi at 6:30 or so. We traveled for 2.5 hours or so and arrived an hour early for the conference. It was a fantastic conference though, lots of great insights and teachings. Great fried rice also!  :) We focused a lot on developing Christlike attributes and how repentance is worked into that also. We had some instruction from our zone leaders and President Cosgrave himself, and it was wonderful. I have plenty to work on! Yikes!  :) Hahahaha

Saturday was the highlight of May! MOTHERS DAY SKYPE CALL. We called Saturday night as not to break the Sabbath. It was a little interesting to start, which is normal, but in the end, it all worked out! :)  Definitely the best part of my week, and a great booster to my spirits as usual. I think I have to be the worst kid ever,  forgot to wish my mother a Happy Mother' Day. So here it goes...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOM, you are the best mother in the whole world. Nobody else could do what you can, and I hope to someday become even 3% of the person you are. I love you so much, and thank my Heavenly Father every day for you.  :)

We met an "apostle" this week too. He had no idea what he was saying though. He would bring out a doctrine as we were teaching someone else, and then we would show the scripture that taught the doctrine clearly, and then he would change his mind, agree with us, and try teaching the doctrine over again. The Savior knew what he was saying when he prophesied that false prophets and teachers will arise and deceive many.

Matthew 24:11 - 'And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.'

Anyways, always a good learning experience, keeps you on your toes for sure!  :)

To close, we had a miracle happen in our area. Almost every single investigator that said they would come to church, either traveled or didn't pick our calls on Saturday night. So, we got together as an apartment and prayed together, pleading with the Lord that someone could come to church tomorrow, as the Zone leaders who stay with us also had nobody planned to come. We called again Sunday morning, and nobody picked our call again. So we went to church, and there was a woman there who had learned with missionaries before a long time ago and decided she would come to church with her friends, one of our members. It was so so so awesome. We taught her after church and she said she has been looking for the right church, and said she feels like this the right one! God is good, and always answers our prayers. I can testify of that whole heartedly. Prayer is such a blessing to us. I mean really, how could we really survive if it weren't for our Father always watching out for us? God bless you all, hope you have a great week! :)
